I was happy to have a chance to spend two weeks in Korea, in order to revisit my favorite places and say goodbye to my friends! Here are some favorites from Seoul and Busan. In Busan, we stayed in our ...
I recently visited Bongeunsa, a Buddhist temple right in the center of Gangnam, across from the COEX mall. It’s peaceful and beautiful, especially with all those spring flowers! The lanterns are for Buddha’s Birthday in April. Here is also ...
Here are a few pictures of things I find funny or amusing. They mostly have to do with animals or strange English! The raccoon cafe was quite a surprise. There’s also a meerkat cafe, but I didn’t go – and ...
It’s been a long winter and I’ve been busy! Here’s a long post with lots of pictures to make up for it… Thankfully, winters in Seoul are shorter and milder than in Montreal, with very little snow. The sun shines, the ...
Gyeongbokgung (Gyeongbok Palace) is the largest of five palaces in Seoul, South Korea. It was built over 600 years ago, as the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty. On Seollal, the first day of the lunar new year, admission was free ...
On Christmas Day, we didn’t have anything to do, since we’re far away from our families in Canada… It was just another Sunday, so we decided to take a short trip to visit a new city. We saw that Daejeon ...
One November Sunday, we decided to hop on a train and go to Chuncheon with no specific plan in mind except to eat the famous “Chuncheon chicken” – something like “let’s have dinner in Chuncheon”. It was by far the best ...
Seoul is big and hectic, but I love it! The Seoul Capital Area is one of the world’s largest urban areas, with 24 million people, while Seoul itself has a population of about 10 million people. Here’s what it looks ...
We are back again in South Korea! So far, I have mostly pictures of food. Here they are! 🙂
Here are some of my favorite pictures from South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Japan. They were taken between 1996 and 2006. My first trip abroad was when I went to teach English in South Korea in 1996. Daniel and ...

I love kimchi jjigae! It’s tangy, spicy, full of delicious and healthy ingredients…
Has anyone on the planet not heard of the song “Gangnam Style” yet? This fun video by South Korean singer Psy is now the most-watched video of all time on YouTube:
In October, I had the chance to attend a very inspiring talk by Stephen Krashen at Busan University of Foreign Studies. Krashen is an authority in the field of second language acquisition.
Here are two reasons why I want to live in Busan:
1. Unlike its poor northern neighbor, South Korea is a democratic and highly developed country. Part of the appeal of living here is discovering a traditional culture set in a high-tech, stylish, and fast-paced environment.
Where I’ve been…
Last few days with friends in Busan, then back in Seoul!
What an amazing market! So much choice, so much variety, and so incredibly huge!
A trip up a mountain for a makgeolli (traditional rice alcohol) festival, and preparations for Buddha’s birthday everywhere…
Beach cities have got to be the coolest!
